Calliope Bouvier Des Flandres kennel is situated on the island of Barbados. Barbados is located Northeast of Venezuela and is surrounded by the Caribbean sea and the North Atlantic ocean. It is the easternmost of the Caribbean islands.
Barbados has beautiful exotic flora, trade breezes coming from the Atlantic, and is surrounded by blue sea which is the home for many corals, sea horses, sea fans, turtles, fish and many more creatures,
It is one of the few islands which always remained a British colony. The island gained its Independence in1966 but has retained a lot of British traditions, especially with legal issues.
Most of the dogs which are imported to Barbados come from the U.K. because of our quarantine laws. Dogs which come from Canada, USA, and other countries usually have to spend six months in the UK before they can be imported here. However, the new Pet Scheme Act is changing this. In December 2005, I imported a Bouvier from the Netherlands, Rick Lois, and he stayed in the UK for just a few days before coming to Barbados.
On the other hand, as Barbados is not known to have any recent cases of rabies, we can export puppies to the other islands and to the USA, Canada and other countries.
Several Barbados "homeless" dogs have been befriended by tourists, especially Europeans, whom, on their return to their homelands, have been accompanied by their Bajan four legged friend.
